BeautiControl Director Summit

  Wow, what an amazing time in Dallas Dec 6-9.  Over 500 Directors and EVIPs arrived at the Omni Hotel to learn about BeautiControl's new skin treatments that will be introduced in January.  BC Spa Facial: where science meets spa.   Exciting to learn about and very thrilled that we're once again returning to a sensor system where we can identify and personalize what women need to use on their skin.   Not to mention the fact that we will be simplifying our products taking the basic products from 24 to 9.  In this culture of "quick fix" and "no time" women don't want to be taking 8-9 steps for their skincare every morning.   But they want to look younger faster so this is going to be exciting.
  I also got to celebrate with Julie Spaid.  Julie has emerged quickly on our team as a spa leader, having only joined in August and is on target to be a Director with BC on January 1.   I love watching her work with her girls; she's not afraid to tell them what they need to do; she's great at holding them accountable; and she knows that this company changes lives one life at a time.   She knows you can make money doing spas, and she knows there is a way to leave the corporate world if you really put your mind to it.  I can't wait to see what's ahead for her!

It's a BOO-TIFUL season to spa

The weather is turning cold here in Iowa.  Darn, it's been so beautiful.  The leaves dramatically changed over the weekend but today many are blown away from the 60 mph winds.  I always love this time of year.  As the nights get cooler the draw of SPA lures women to some time away just for me.

 Last weekend a few of us joined Platinum National Barbara Ward, Nationals Nancy Savely and Margaret Ward, as well as our regional VP Charla Gervers for a leadership retreat in Branson.  What a wonderful time.  Barbara chose different women to do makeovers on, talked about how to dress wearing the right colors and for your body types.  And in perfect BC style, a few of the guests were treated with a Chocolate Indulgence Spa.  Of course, they took the opportunity of Halloween being around the corner and asked us all to come to the spa in costume, so thanks to Julie Spaid's suggestion, we decided to be the cheetah girls.  I have to admit, I'm not really much of a Halloween girl, but we thoroughly enjoyed our costumes and had a wonderful time, as you can see. 

  It got me thinking that one of the best things we can do with our spa business is to just HAVE FUN.  Creativity doesn't have to come just from ourselves.  Network with the consultants around you and ask them what they're doing.  Julie even went to Walmart yesterday and purchased a blue pumpkin and is taking it to her spa tonight filled with treats for those who book.  Great idea!

You can spa anywhere

   Okay, so Friday night was the first time I've ever done a spa in quite a unique setting.   A couple of us ventured over to a sorority house at Drake University in Des Moines to spa the girls for their rush week.   Jen was told they were doing some major construction, turning it from a fraternity house into a sorority house.   Most of these girls had spent the entire week painting, varnishing floors, picking up trash, finding furniture......you name it.  
  When we walked in to assess where to set up we decided to not let any obstacles get in the way.   There was absolutely no furniture, paint everywhere, but needless to say - the girls needed a little down time.  So we unpacked our bags and set up in the kitchen doing facials, foot creme, our BeautiControl instant manicure treatment and then headed into the living room to straddle the paint buckets and brushes for a little relaxation time.  Just say spaaaaaaa.  The pictures don't do it justice.  It was great and fun to treat them.

The Gift of Friendship through Spa

I love all the friendships I make through the gift of spa with BeautiControl.  Over the course of the past 20 years I've met hundreds of wonderful men and women.  Some have are clients, some are consultants on my team, some are consultants and directors around the country, and some are staff with BeautiControl. 
  I met Gary Jones 29 years ago when our company was small and you knew just about every director in the country.  What fun to be able to watch how he's grown and expanded his responsibilities with BC to bring us the best of skincare, makeup and spa products PLUS now a whole branding image that is absolutely unbelievable.

  I also love meeting other directors and learning from their expertise.  On my recent trip to Alaska with 48 other top directors in the company we shared endless ideas that I know will help my own BeautiControl team.  Thankfully this trip was made possible through our company who is owned by parent company Tupperware.  Simply by sharing the gift of spa and our fabulous products and career opportunity and by leading a team of women to do the same.  What a great time, and two months later I'm still laughing and smiling at the memories.
